March Mood Board

Not quite winter, not yet spring, March feels like a month suspended between two energies. And in many ways so do I. Over the past couple of months I’ve been dreaming up something that’s both very exciting and very out of my comfort zone. Ideas like these require slow, thoughtful development, seemingly dormant periods of quiet, almost unnoticeable growth. But they also need to bloom, to peek up from the soil like the first buds of spring, pulling from the energy of others and standing tall, confident, visible.

I’m much more comfortable with invisibility, behind a camera or a floral arrangement, keeping to myself and hoping that someone just so happens to care about what’s going on in front of me. But I’m learning how to share more, to become more visible (an unintentional, but clear theme of 2024, as evidenced by my very similar February thoughts).

As the season of comfort and warmth and hiding behind my puffiest coat comes to a close, I’m focusing on the energies of spring, building on the work that was done quietly off to the side, and welcoming more tangible, visible, energizing growth.

I’m feeling coastal this month, apparently. As I searched for images that aligned with my mindset heading into March, I was drawn to the soft neutrals and rough textures of the shore: pale, barely-there blue; ivory and sandy beige; touches of bright, citrus green. It’s a clarifying palette, much like the brisk, salty ocean air.
